"After orgasm, both men and women release the chemicals oxytocin, prolactin, gamma amino butyric acid (GABA), and endorphins. Each of these contributes to that roll-over-and-snore feeling," says Billy Goldberg, M.D., co-author of Why Do Men Fall Asleep After Sex?
But since both sexes release the same post-climax hormones, but why is the after-nooky snooze more of a guy trait? It's likely because women don't always have orgasms during sex, and hence, don't always release the sleep-inducing hormones. "If that's true, then you have your answer as to why men fall asleep after sex," adds Goldberg.
